Our History
Founded in 2003 by Greg Karzhevsky, Jersey College was originally The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education. Mr. Karzhevsky’s motivation for opening the school was to develop a highly skilled pool of nurses to provide care for medically fragile children, the patients in New Jersey’s largest home care agency operated by his family. In 2004, the school received approval to offer a Practical Nursing Program in New Jersey by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Over the next several years the school built a reputation for excellence in nursing education as it attracted a committed group of instructors, administrators, and the institution’s President Mr. Steven Litvack.
In 2007, the college received national accreditation from The Council on Occupational Education and approval from the US Department of Education. That same year, the school was invited to open a campus in Tampa, Florida by a local hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer allowing the institution to bring its educational expertise into another community. This opportunity was followed by the opening of the South Jersey Campus located in Ewing, NJ in 2009.
With the support of the local Tampa community, the institution received approval for a Professional Nursing Program in 2010 and started offering an LPN to RN Bridge Program designed for seamless continuity of education for experienced Licensed Practical Nurses. Later that year, the Jacksonville Campus opened, followed by the Fort Lauderdale Campus in 2012.
In 2016, Jersey College added its sixth location through a partnership with HCA Florida Largo Hospital by establishing a campus inside of the Indian Rocks campus of Largo Hospital in Largo, FL.
In 2020, Jersey College opened its seventh campus location in Port Charlotte, Florida. This is the fifth Florida location and is a hospital-based campus located at ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte.
