Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education
The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education, informally known as CANNJ, was founded in 2003 in Hackensack, New Jersey. As a response to the growing number of children in need of medical care in the area, Greg Karzhevsky opened the center to train nurses in the physical and mental aspects of patient care. CANNJ was approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing to offer a Practical Nursing Program in 2004, which gained full accreditation in 2006. In subsequent years, The Center gained approval from the Florida Commission for Independent Education and the Florida Board of Nursing to offer Practical and Professional nursing programs in Tampa, Jacksonville, and Ft. Lauderdale.
In November of 2012, CANNJ received approval from New Jersey Higher Education and the New Jersey Board of Nursing to offer a Registered Nursing Program with an Associate Degree. As the institution moved into its 10th year, The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education changed its name to Jersey College to coincide with the pursuit of higher education opportunities.
